Hi Friends,
If you have ever thought of making a junk journal-
This is by far the easiest way to get started!
We will be using the existing book, cover,
the spine and the binding.
We will be using the pages and removing some of the pages.
Start with a book that is in fairly good condition.
The spine looks good.
This story was about a boy and his dog- so
I decided to make this journal without flowers and lace !
This book had 175 pages.
I tried to leave most of the pages with illustrations.
Decide what you want to keep and which ones you will remove.
You can use a straight edge when you tear.
And fold pages over top to side or top to bottom.
Pages are folded to create pockets.
If you have jagged tear lines, hide them inside the pocket.
Glue sides together to form an opening.
This is my favorite glue.
It really holds!
After I removed my pages and did my folding and gluing-
I ended up with 25 pages and pockets!
Removing pages will take away bulk, so you can add to your journal.
You can save these pages for another project.
On my side bar, I have a lot of projects using "book pages"
Now for the fun part-
We get to add bits of this and that-
The tabs that I used as a closure were scraps from an old piano roll.
I added bakers twine to tie closed.
The inside was in good shape so left it as is.
The library pocket was new.
In some places I added washi tape.
This will give you a tuck spot!
I had some vintage target paper.
I used washi tape to make a flap.
Added some stamps.
This paper clock face was used as a pocket.
Then tucked in some ephemera.
More pockets-
An envelope was added and
folded back.
I added some rub on transfers.
This advertisement from the 60's
was in the book so I kept it!
Lots of room to make it your own creation.
I used a pin through the spine to add a couple of trinkets.
I like the smell of old books.
If your book needs it
you can put dryer sheets inside your journal,
Then put your book inside a bag.
TIP: Did you know a butter dish is a great way to organize
washi tape?
Thank you for visiting today!
On a personal note-
My sweet Husband is having surgery this week.
I would really appreciate if you could pray for us.
Because of the Corona virus I can't even stay with him or visit-
Pray for me to continue to trust the Lord.
Thank you in advance :)
Hugs-
Lisa S
