Retro Christmas Blocks from Wood Scraps

 Hi Friends!

I have been away due to computer problems : )

My Husband gave me a drawer for my scraps,

but now the drawer is full!

His challenge to me was....

Do something with these !!!

Okay, I'm up to a challenge.

I made color copy prints of my scrapbook paper

and my own box of Shiny Brite ornaments.

I flipped them over to copy the other side!

I love the retro look of these trees.

I cut the labels apart and matched them up with the backs.

I sanded the blocks a bit.

Then painted the blocks with Acrylic paint.

I used Matte Mod podge to adhere the labels.

Matte Mod Podge is available at The Dollar Tree.

It's great to have on hand if you don't want to have a shiny finish.

Just for fun!

These can be used in a tiered tray-

or as a small gift.

Sweet little shelf sitters.

Here's the back side.

I had a few ideas.

Maybe in a bowl-

or tucked into other goodies.

Maybe tied together like small packages.

And my wood scraps are under control and now the drawer WILL close again.

Update: After much searching I found some paper still available at

Scrapbook.com

It is in '' A Very Merry Christmas" by Carte Bella

Easy Pumpkin Apple Butter / Pumpkin Spoon

Hi Friends,

This is one of our favorite FALL recipes.

It's delicious, easy to make and fun to share with others.

Pumpkin Apple Butter

1   15 oz. canned Pumpkin

1 cup unsweetened Applesauce

1/2 cup Brown Sugar

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1 tsp. ground Ginger

1/4 tsp. Allspice

I made my own applesauce but you don't need to if you have some in your pantry.

Just skip this part.

3 Granny Smith apples cored and sliced

Cover with water, cook until tender.

Drain

Mash to desired consistency.

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan,

bring to a boil and reduce heat. Leave on low for 5 min.

We like it with a lot of spice.

Do a taste test to see if you want more sugar :)

If you do, cook another 5 min.

Fill 3  half pint jars.

Store in fridge for 2 months-

No need to use the canning process -

I have caught my family eating it by the spoonful.

Delicious on toast and pancakes!

I wanted to take a jar over to my neighbors....

I thought I would wrap the jar in a cellophane bag

with a new dishtowel and wood spoon.

First I used food coloring to dye the spoon orange.....

it looks more yellow I know.

I drew a pumpkin face-

Then got out my wood burning tool-

Tied it up with raffia-

It made my neighbor smile!

You are the best for hanging out with me today !

Thank you,

Hugs-Lisa S

Here's the Snowman version !
