How to Paint BUFFALO CHECK PLAID - RED on Mason Jars

Hi Friends,
 

I noticed that I have shared every color imaginable when it comes

to Buffalo Check Plaid and Gingham and more Gingham.....but I left out my technique for

 

RED BUFFALO CHECK PLAID !

 

 

Here are the colors that I used...

 

 

Bright Red, Tuscan Red and Black

 

 

 

Paint the outside of your jar with  Bright Red

 

 

 

I used Tuscan Red to make my vertical stripes.

 

I don't like to use tape I think it looks better free hand. 

 

 

Then paint the horizontal stripes start under the lip of the jar.

 



 

 Then at the base.

 

 Paint center stripe centered evenly between the top and bottom stripe.

 



 

After your stripes have dried come back in with Black paint

 

at all the points were the stripes overlap.  Use a square tip brush so you can make

 

sharp squares.

 

 

Add a bit of ribbon or twine if you like.

 

 

 That's it!

 

I think that covers just about every color-

Upcycled Red Truck and Green Volkswagen Christmas Tree Ornaments

The longest title for the simplest project!

I have been making these for about four years now. They are always good sellers

at the Craft Shows. The only items you will need can be found at the Dollar Tree.

Not to worry, they have these cars year round and the red Truck and green

 Volkswagen are always available.

You will find these Maistra cars in the toy department.

You will need a small tree. These are available at the Dollar Tree, or

any craft store. Hot glue gun and glue, about 12'' of Baker's Twine.

Baker's Twine can also be found at the Dollar Tree.

Remove the base of tree.

Use pliers to curl under the wire "trunk" so it has no sharp ends.

Hot glue tree to top of car.

Tie around the car and tree.

Add  a little bit of Tacky glue to the windshield, bumpers and tree.

 Then sprinkle a bit of glitter for snow.

OOPS! Looks like I need some more!

If you are not a glitter lover,

you can add  small dabs of white paint to look like snow.



The kids can play with these no problem!

Let them race around on the floor.

You can use as tree ornaments or set out as décor.

Do your kids love to play look for a Volkswagen?

We always did.

 

I don't think I will ever get tired of the little Red Truck!

Faux Vintage Enamelware Bells

 

 

Enamelware was the first mass-produced American kitchenware

Production began in the 1870s, and continued through the 1930s.

It comes in many colors. In my experience white is the most popular

and the easiest to still find. I usually find pieces with red trim and that has

always been my favorite.

 

Here is an example of the Red and White Enamelware.
I saved it from someone's junk pile because the lid was missing...who cares not me....
just used it as a planter anyway : )



I found some white Enamel-type Christmas bells

at the Dollar Tree.

The bells looked pretty good as is but I decided they needed

a little something to make them even better.

So I got some ribbon






 

and a red

and black Sharpie.

I used a red Sharpie first to draw along the middle of the bell

where there would be a ring of color.

Then I came back over a few places with the black Sharpie to give it a

more natural aged, chippy farmhouse look.

I made a small bow and hot glued it over the existing burlap bow.

I made some black and some red enamel and I used black and white ribbon and

red and white ribbon.

The red enamel bells were my favorite.

 

I like to carefully hold the lighter close to the ribbon to seal the edge.

This only works on synthetic ribbon.

I hung them over the mantle.

Put them on the tree.

 

 

 

Tried them out on the door knobs.....

I hung them over stockings.

I added them to my table setting.

 

 

I like the Red best !
