Faux Boxwood Wreath

Hi Friends!
WELCOME

I can't wait for SPRING....

so I'm helping it along!

I found this wreath online at Joss & Main for $40.99

I'm going to share how I made mine for a whole lot less!

You may have seen these 12" X 12"  mats. They are available at craft stores,

I was able to find them at my 99 cent store.

I purchased 2 mats for $1.00 each.

1- round 12'' styrofoam wreath form for $1.00 at Dollar tree

Dark green acrylic paint- .59 at Joann's Fabric

I used scissors to cut apart the mat.

You need your glue gun and that's it!

Lay form flat and start gluing around outer edge.

Just keep going until your wreath is filled in-

It really did not take that long!

This is the back side.

I  added a piece of green ribbon for hanging.

I think that mine looks exactly the same as theirs!

Finished size is 14''

Tell me what you think-
xo Lisa S

  1. How big were the 2 mats? Seems like there would not be enough to cover all that wreath form? You cut the mats in pieces of 3 sprigs each? thanks

    1. Hi Mary,
Good questions! The mats are a 12"x 12" square.
Yes, I cut all the connection pieces apart. Each cluster was left together.Yes, most sprigs were in threes.
When the form is flat, only the top and sides are covered you don't cover the back. The sprigs fan out and fill in.

    1. Cherryl,
Thank you, I'm so happy with the way it looks. Sometimes DOLLAR STORE crafts look like dollar store crafts.
I hope you find some mats.

  3. I echo Cherryl's comment; I got a small mat at a craft store, deeply discounted but it had originally been a lot more than $1 and one isn't enough--pooh! Love the final effect. I can't imagine spending big bucks on a wreathe! Thank you for showing us how to do it frugally!

Thank you so much. I'm glad you found at least one mat- I see some still at the 99cent store. I'll bet Walmart may have them in their spring floral section.
I hope you can find another.

  7. Love your wreath! They are so pricey in the stores so have avoided buying one. Thank you for sharing and also how to make them. I will be on the lookout for the grass.

  16. Hello Lisa, thanks for sharing your boxwood wreath at last week's Share Your Style #247! I saw it but picked a few others to share for this week; however, I thought about doing a craft round-up if you'd like to join?? This would be perfect! Maybe you could rewrite with a few of your ideas linked into one post as part of the round-up? I like your wreath because you can use it all year long.

Thinking about for first week in April. I'll ask a few other friends, too, to make a nice, small blog hop.

    Happy spring to you,
    Barb :)
