Hi friends,
This week went so fast!
My garden is in full bloom and I really needed
to trim my Lavender to keep it in shape.
Every time I planned to trim the plants,
the bees had
their own idea.
I'm going to have to wait until
sundown when the bees go home!
Ok, I was able to cut my lavender.
I cut it in the dark!
Here's my cuttings before I trimmed them- what a mess.
I always save the rings from my broken
tomato cages.
They make a great base for a wreath!
I used a small gauge floral wire and one ring.
I cut the stems to about 4''.
I pinched together about 5 or 6 stems
and attached to the ring using wire.
Then add another small cluster on top of the previous stems.
Continue all the way around the ring.
This is the back side-
Oh it smells so good!
I will sleep good tonight :)
I think this would be a nice gift for a Mom or a friend on Mother's Day.

It's beautiful, Lisa! I LOVE lavender and grow it in my yard as well. Thanks for the inspiration because I would love a fresh lavender wreath inside our home this summer. Great tip for recycling tomato cages too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I have a few different varieties of lavender.
DeleteSome have long and skinny stems. I used the short and chubby ;)
but they all smell great. I love to use the old tomato cage rings because you can just toss the wreath when it looks too shabby.
Thank you for hosting and visiting today! Always a pleasure.

I love lavender, in fact, my son and I just bought three lavender bushes last weekend so I'm looking forward to being able to make one of these for myself soon. #SundaysOnSilverado
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
DeleteHere in California it blooms so often that it's hard to give them a trim. You will be so glad you have 3!

Gorgeous Lisa! I wish I'd thought to do this before we moved to the desert, when I had tons of lavender plants! Featuring when my party opens up.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol!
DeleteI would think Lavender would grow ok in the desert. It's pretty draught tolerant here in California.
I appreciate you so much!

If you lived nearby, Lisa, I'd have you make a wreath like this for my home - gorgeous and I can only dream of the scent! CONGRATS - it's my pleasure to crown you Friend of the Week at Friendship Friday at Create With Joy! :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you were close by we would hang out all the time!
DeleteThank you for all you do. You are so sweet and I appreciate you so much.

Such a pretty wreath, and I'm sure it smells wonderful! Lavender is difficult to grow in Florida because of the hot weather, so I enjoy it so much more when I find some. It was my mom's favorite. Thanks for sharing on my What Are You Doing? Social Hop!
ReplyDeleteSara,
DeleteThank you so much.
I always forget Florida is different than California. I guess we are a drier heat here. Sometimes it's like a desert :)
