Embellished Flour Sack Towels

When I saw these Flour sack towels at Dollar Tree, I thought they

were good deal but needed a little something added-

One of my favorite words in crafting!

embellish

verb

em·bel·lish | \ im-ˈbe-lish
embellished; embellishing; embellishes

1 : to make beautiful by adding details

Maybe just a fancy word for up-cycling !

I went looking through my craft supplies
You may or not know this but - I LOVE RICK-RACK!

I had some FALL colors !

Measure across the bottom width of towel and add 1/4''each side

to tuck around to the back side of the towel.

Pin to existing hem seam.

Sew right over the hem seam.

I used orange on the other towel.

I didn't have any matching thread.... I am hoping white will be okay.

They need a little ironing before I give them as a hostess gift!

I hope this inspired you to embellish in a positive way-
xo Lisa S

  6. Your rick rack brought back many fond memories of sewing projects when I was younger. More recently I found some "rick rack" embellishments for scrapbooking and loved using them, too! Your towels are adorable, by the way!

  16. What a lovely idea! I really like how the tea towels turned out. Your post brought back memories, Lisa. My late Mom used to like to use these embellishments on dress hems. She called them "rick rack" which I just loved as a kid! Thank you for sharing with the Hearth and Soul Link Party.

Remember when our Moms' would let down the hems of the dress we out grew? My Mom would add some type of ribbon to cover up the old seam ;) xo Lisa S
