Hi Friends,
This was a true trash find !
I saw it sticking out of a dumpster-
originally I just wanted the wood casters.
After I got it home , I realized the bed was not broken and in great shape.
The little crib would make a perfect
Cat Bed-
My husband reminded me -
we don't have a cat ;)
so I decided to make a book shelf.
There was an adorable bunny decal on the side, but it was in bad shape.
I planned to paint the bed but leave the decal if possible.
I remembered that if you cover an area with VASELINE-
The paint will not adhere to that area.
I used a paint brush to cover the decal.
When my neighbor moved, she gave me her collection of spray paint-
I went for PEEKABOO BLUE
Thanks to Tina!
The sides have hardware to raise and lower the side.
Here's a tip-
If you don't want to get paint on a certain area,
and it can't be taped off-
Cover with Vaseline!
Paint will not stick to the Vaseline.
After the paint is dry,
wipe off the Vaseline carefully
with a paper towel.
It can be taken off the wall and still used
as a bed in the future.
Thank you
for visiting with me !

Awww, so sweet! Why would someone throw that away?? I mean... donate people! Luckily you found it and rescued it!

Tania,
DeleteThank you! I know, I was shocked that it wasn't broken.
If it was, I was going a completely different direction with it.
It had a price tag on it from a local Antique Mall ;)

Oh, thank you for saving the precious decals. I'm 73 and those decals were on my crib/bed and chiffarobe...sweet bunnies, bears and lambs. Funny how somethings will jar a memory...adorable idea! from VCharm, Sandi

Such a great idea for a small toy crib like this! I had to chuckly at the cat bed idea - one of my daughters would love that for her kitty! Pinning!
ReplyDeleteCindy
DeleteThe best part is it can still come off the wall if needed to play with...or if I get a kitty ;0

ReplyDeleteJust adorable!
ReplyDeleteLisa - you seriously are my spirit animal. I have two of these small cribs that my chiweenie Taquito slept in. He is no longer with us so I want to keep them but didn't know what to do. Now I do. How did you attach them to the wall?
ReplyDeleteKristin,
DeleteWhat a sweet way to remember your little guy! I bet he was adorable. I was able to just use nails to hang it up, but large hooks would also work.
Thanks for visiting!
