Favorite Vintage Finds- Joan Walsh Anglund Books

Hello my friends,

Today I would love to share with you

another one of my favorite finds.

A small collection of books,

by Joan Walsh Anglund

I have saved since my childhood.

My first book was 'A Friend is Someone Who Likes You'

I later found out is was also the first book Joan published in 1964

Even before I could read I feel in love with her

illustrations!

I wanted to be an artist too!

The wind can be your friend too.

It sings soft songs to you at night

when you are sleepy and feeling lonely.

Sometimes it calls you to play.

It pushes you from behind

as you walk and makes

the leaves dance for you.

It is always with you

wherever you go,

and that's how you know it likes you.

-Joan Walsh Anglund

see the tiny mouse?

Under the jacket is a sweet surprise....

Some came with box cover slips

along with the dust jackets.

These have some color illustrations.

So detailed and precious.

Just the right size for little hands

One thing at a time

and that done well.

Is a very good rule

as many can tell.

-Joan Walsh Anglund

I  hope this brought back some happy memories

or maybe this author is new to you.

If so I hope you can find a copy.

My public library has many-

I also found Joan Walsh Angland official website

When asked why her illustrations had no mouths, she had said

she had only intended to show

the pure innocence on the face of a child.

And I agree, that is what we see.

I found out that Joan Walsh Anglund  had past away in 2021 at the age of 95.

She has written over 120 poetry books, with thousands of precious drawings.

Her books give a warm hug!

I encourage you look for these precious books to share

with your friends, children and

grandchildren.
