With Aged Galvanized Buckets
Hi friends,
The weather is warming up and it's time for me to put
most of the heavy blankets away for now.
A year or so ago I made a ladder to hang blankets and wreaths.
If you would like to see how I made it you can look here.
For summer I thought I would change it up.
I was inspired by Lora B. Create & Ponder at https://lorabloomquist.com/
You can see how she decorated her patio ladder!
I found these hanging buckets at the 99cent store.
They can also be purchased at the Dollar Tree.
They were a bit too shiny so I wanted to age them-
There's a few different ways to do this-
I buy this Lysol Toilet Cleaner available at the dollar stores.
Use the cleaner in a plastic bucket or utility sink.
Wear gloves and apply with a wide brush.
Work in a well ventilated area.
Test in an area of your bucket that will not show.
Some people say to wait hours or over night.....
but these cheap buckets only take 5-10 mins.
Rinse thoroughly.
Be very careful!
The cleaner is caustic it will etch and ruin
your decorative fixtures, drain and faucet.
I hung the buckets on the ladder and filled with potted plants.
Then I filled some spaces with vintage gardening books.
Lemon Thyme |
Icterina- Sage
I feel in love with the chartreuse foliage!
Coleus- Electric Lime
Calocephalus- Silver Stone
I love to collect vintage gardening books!
My sister gave me the book,
Highways and Hedges
by Herbert A. Morrah
Illustrations Paintings by Berenger Benger ,1925
She always finds the most beautiful books.
I have to share some of the illustrations with you!
It is hard for me to get a good picture in my living room because
of the sky lights, but the plants will love it in that room.
The New Garden Book is one I altered here-
I am so glad you could stay until the end,
I'm sorry this was such a long post-
Do you like the ladder with plants?
Tell me what you think.
