Plaid Shirt Memory Pillow

Hello my Friends,

I know it's another pillow.....but if you are

like me you like to change them often.

With Father's Day coming soon,

I wanted to share a pillow made from a mans' shirt.

It is so easy.

I am so blessed to have my Dad still living.

Many of my friends have lost fathers, grandpas and even husbands.

You may find that this would be a thoughtful gift to a loved one.

Start with a favorite or sentimental shirt.

Button up the shirt.

Lay flat and cut side seams and remove sleeves.

Cut across shoulder to shoulder and remove collar.

I like to use plaid because you can easily

follow the lines.

Turn buttons to the inside.

Trim to match seams.

The size of the skirt determines the size of the pillow.

Pin seams.

Unbutton a couple of the buttons.

Stitch all the way around!

Turn right side out.

Now you can cover a pillow form.

Then button back up.

I told you it was easy!

You decide which side you like to show.

This side has a secret pocket.

Maybe make some pillows for your cabin or

decorate with a

summer camping theme.

Happy Father's Day!

  2. What a great idea to use the buttons as the closures. I can only sew short straight lines so this eliminates my having to try setting a zipper in! Having a slightly warped sense of humor, I would have a bandana or a small stuffed animal peeking out ot that pocket!

This style pillow is perfect for you. Two straight seams and your done. I want to get some denim shirts and make more pillows.
I love your sense of humor. I might hide a snack in the pocket.

I thought the buttons would be uncomfortable but you hardly notice them.

  10. What a lovely idea, Lisa! Having lost my Dad 12 years ago, I remember keeping several of his shirts just to remember him by. After a while it felt strange with them hanging in the closet. If I still have them, I may well think of doing this. It's a lovely idea. Thank you for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party!
