Hi there !
My library has paperback books for 10 cents.
I thought it would be fun to make a folded ornament shape.
Remove the books cover.
I didn't do any counting of pages. I folded 3 top to bottom, then 3
bottom to top.
You may like the shape at this point.
I went back and did a second fold every 3 top to bottom.
I had a wood scrap and an eye screw...put together it made a ornament
hanger.
This picture shows my mistake- an extra fold was necessary
but I don't think it will be noticeable.
To cover the base, I added some some beads to a button
then glued it in place.
You know I'm not crazy about glitter but I went ahead
and added it to some of the edges with white glue.
This one is glitter mess.
Thank you for stopping by !
It is always great to hear from you.

This is an interesting REUSE...I turn my read books back to the thrift store, so any I still have are treasures I want to read or refer to. I am thinking that mini's could be made with post-it notes...? and I will try that first! Hugs, Sandi My dolls' might love them...grins!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea--reminds me of the angels they would make out of old Reader's Digest back in the day! Pinned.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! My library sells paperbacks cheap too, so this would be an inexpensive project.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous, Lisa! Wow. Visiting from the Crazy Little Lovebirds linkup.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, and repurpose. Need to ask my husband for an old book
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to HIH 611. Hope to see you at SSPS https://esmesalon.com/seniorsalonpitstop/ Mon through Saturday
So pretty. I've made a book tree in the past using a similar method but I love the shape of this one. It'll be a feature over at Handmade Monday this week :-)
