My Home Tour- Christmas 2021

 Hi friends,

I wanted to invite you over 

for a little tour of

what's happening at our house.

We have been having some great weather!

We are hoping for some rain-

It's cold but nice.

Come on in!

Instructions for the Galvanized Tin Trees.

First out of the Christmas box is always the Manger.

Then I think about the mantle-

I decided to go a bit rustic this year.

I shared how to make the stars here .

Years ago my husbands' boss 

was going to  throw away this

Greyhound wagon!

I was happy my husband

was there to save it.

I stenciled the rusty saw back for Christmas in July!

I have enough ornaments to change the theme

of the tree each year if we want -

It's hard to see with the lights on.

I filled the tree with some of my collection of

putz paper houses.

My son made the wood crate we use to

cover the tree base.

I made these pillows from old shirts here

Over the kitchen sink, I have a spring loaded curtain rod

covered in garland.

This year I hung some vintage cookie cutters and kitchen tools.

I have the bakery sign up year-round

Stacked funnels make great trees.

Shiny Brites on egg scales.

I love old potholders.

I have some Christmas aprons and linens that I put on display.

I made these over sized gift tags just for fun.

Just cut two corners of your wood on an angle.

Then drill a hole to add jute or rope.

Paint the tags with acrylic paint.

The tags were handwritten with a paint pen.

I used wood glue to overlap my tags so they would hang 

right. Then add bow or greenery.

It's light weight and can hang on an old window.

Poinsettias were left in their pots and just

put them in a galvanized bucket.

These small trees sit by the front door.

Repurposed Faucet Handles, Hinges and Door Knobs for Christmas

 Hello my friends !

True confession- I love bottle brush trees !

Here are a few that I have found over the years.

I rarely pass them by especially single trees.

I needed to remove the wood base.

Just a little twist is all you need.

I save them for another time.

The trees easily stand in the faucet handles.

I used the back side.

I had this idea in my head because I thought the handles

looked just like my vintage Victorian tree stand.

What do you think?

Same idea with old door knobs.

To make a hinge tree-

I opened it to stand pointing up.

I used a piece of bailing wire starting at the base

and wrapping around to the top

where I formed a star.

I only found a single hinge, but I will be on the lookout

for another.

Repurposed Spice Tins for Thanksgiving

Hi Friends,

Well it's almost Thanksgiving and I was thinking

today- YES ! There's time to sneak in another project-

It only took about 15 min.

I used some tins from my collection.

If you don't have a tin -no problem-

How about a spool of thread or alphabet blocks or scrap of wood.

Use any picture or card you like-

Here are the two that I used.

Save to your computer, resize and print.

I picked these two tins.

The tops have a slide opening and shaker holes.

I didn't use any glue on tin,

but you can use hot glue if you wish.

Glued image to cardstock  (aka- used file folder)

Carefully cut out image.

Save the sentiments-

I used glue to attach a toothpick to the back,

then covered toothpick with a scrap of cardstock.

Used Distressing Ink  in Antique Linen on edges.

A little pinch of paper shred on top of tin-

The toothpick paper doll was able to stand

using one of the holes on top of the tin.

Went to my cigar box filled with single vintage earrings.

Every girl should have such a box :) 

You just never know when you need a little bling!
