How To Paint PATRIOTIC PICNIC GINGHAM MASON JARS / Whitewash Technique

I can't wait, the weather is warming up and soon we will be enjoying the backyard parties,

Summer BBQ's and casual dining!

My Buffalo Plaid Jars are the most viewed posts so far. I thought I would show

another technique using a dry whitewash over a single color.

I used Classico Pasta Sauce Jars for my project because they will hold my plastic bottle perfectly.

I found the squeeze bottles at the Dollar Tree.

I wanted to have my  ketchup or bbq sauce, mustard and salad dressing looking fancy.

Just pull out of jar to squeeze then return to jar.

First paint the jars white and let dry.

These jars are a bit square so it is easy to paint your stripes.

You can use Any ACRYLIC PAINT

I used the $ .69 paint at Joanns' Fabrics

I will show the technique with GREY

Start your vertical stripes

Evenly add your stripes, I make 5 on the pint and quart jars

Add the horizontal lines, I paint 3

Use a dry brush with white paint following the direction of the stripes

A dry brush means that you dip your brush in the paint but wipe most of it off with a dry

paper towel before painting your project. If you use too much paint use a damp cloth or paper towel

to wipe off excess.

Come back with your original color and paint a square where your stripes cross.

I recommend using wax or spray sealer if you want to keep your jars clean.

REAL RED

On the Classico Jars I painted 4 vertical stripes on the square sides,

and 2 horizontal stripes where the glass had a natural line.

NAVY BLUE

What do you think ?

*Don't forget you can add a bit of crushed ice to the bottom

of the jars, to keep your condiments cool !

I will add the links below to the other jars.
